Overall I received great high quality care, the staff were all kind and helpful. Though there are some things that can be improved on.

Suggested improvements
As a surgical inpatient, the number one priority postoperatively should be pain management. When I asked for ibuprofen and paracetamol at 10pm after my surgery, the nurse said it wasn’t prescribed so they had to contact the oncall, who then prescribed these as PRN drugs (when it should have been part of my regular medication in the first place). The nurse looking after me was lovely but as agency staff she did not have access to Pixys medication dispensing system so I had to wait longer before I got my painkillers. And I had to keep asking for these every couple of hours because nothing had been prescribed for me to have regularly. It was finally sorted the next evening after I discussed with my surgeon Mr Shakir who made sure I had the right medications prescribed correctly.

During consulation, Mr Shakir took the time to listen to my concerns and explained the intervention options in great detail. He then caters the treatment according to my specific needs. He is sincerely kind and caring, has great bedside manners and always puts his patient’s best interests first.

Mr Fevzi Shakir has been nothing short of brilliant. This is the first time I have ever been admitted in a hospital let alone undergo surgery. I never felt worried even for a second because I knew I was in great hands. He looked after me really well from clinic to theatre to the ward. He is very kind, patient and empathetic. The theatre team overall made me feel so supported and calm — Amphie, Sunimol, Carie, Shaine, Dr Picard, Mr Bhan and Mr Shakir. They deserve a medal for the excellent work they do!
