Share review of Cleveland Clinic London Hospital
I came to the Cleveland as that is where my consultant had the first slot available for my surgery . Whilst the rooms were very spacious and modern, unfortunately my entire stay was marred by a complete lack of organisation or priority of patient care. I don’t know if it was just floor 4 that was chronically understaffed or just very poorly managed but these were a few examples of my issues:
I had to wait in theatre post surgery as there wasn’t a nurse available to receive me
I had been fasting for 15 hours, ordered a sandwich and a tea and waited for 50 minutes
I ordered breakfast for 8am and received it at 940am
I had some physio and was experiencing pain and spoke to a nurse at 1055am to request some pain relief and didn’t receive it until 1202pm in spite of 3 requests to the nurses and my husband asking twice, y which time the pain was becoming unbearable as I had to wait so long.
I was not kept informed of what needed to happen to facilitate my discharge, and had different nurses telling me different things.
I didn’t discharge until 2pm due to all of the waiting around and the lack of organisation even though the physio and an earlier doctor had authorised my discharge at 1030am
I waited 40 minutes for a wheelchair to discharge
The medical team were (mostly) all professional and competent but the administration frankly resembled the NHS which is why I chose to spend a considerable amount of money to go private hoping to avoid unnecessary delays and chaotic organisation. I spoke to the nurse in charge of the floor and he apologised but this is my first impression of the Cleveland and unfortunately I have to say I wouldn’t rush back nor recommend to family and friends. Whilst the procedure and everything around the surgery went smoothly everything else was fairly shambolic to be honest. have had a couple of procedures at a much smaller hospital Gatwick Park Spire , and whilst the rooms and food were inferior to the Cleveland, I got medication promptly when required and was communicated to regularly and clearly throughout my stay with prompt attention and a prompt efficient discharge.
