Share review of Cleveland Clinic London Hospital
Consultant didn’t visit frequently enough (didn’t come for first 2 days post op and after that still didn’t come every day)
At one point I was feeling partic unwell after the procedure and the nurse was unable to get hold of the on call doctor at all - they were not answering any calls. Nurses were all kind but weren’t a substitute for doctor input.
Food : menu didn’t change for the 6 days I was in hospital. As I am vegetarian this basically meant the same meals every single day which doesn’t help recovery of appetite/ desire to eat which is necessary for post op recovery
I reacted badly to some of the meds, one nurse made the decision to give me a different anti-sickness med but this was even worse- other nurses were surprised he had chosen such a strong alternative
The consultant was a lovely man but clearly over stretched & disorganised, both pre and post operation. Communication before the op was poor and last minute. During my hospital stay he was largely absent (see above). I have been discharged now but did not see him pre discharge and have no idea what should happen next by way of follow up. Also was not given any information about diet once I got home - having had bowel surgery, I would have thought some guidance on what to eat/ avoid would be helpful .
