I can not fault my care. Superb surgeons and nursing staff. It was frustrating that the last 3/4 days I was kept in as they thought I needed a biopsy, but when that was deemed unsafe, then lots of specialists looked at the scan and decided it was a ‘bone island’ with no need for further investigation. I felt this could have been achieved much earlier.

Suggested improvements
Food. The quality was good mostly, but being on a restricted diet meant many things came up red. On a colorectal ward you would expect a different menu? Food was often late or early, which is unhelpful when you set trying to time medication. The staff didn’t seen well trained. Eg wouldn’t look at tray and realise what was missing, a cup for tea, egg cup for boiled egg, butter for toast and never asked when taking order, what would you like to go with that? So would sometimes just get a lump of chicken or a bit of fish on its own.

I had the utmost faith in Prof Murphy’s decisions and that of his colleague Mr Bham

Too many to mention! Becky, Veronica, Katie, Dianne. Tom and Abi my dieticians. The anaesthetist, my physio. I wish I was better with names.
