Subject: Medical Care Review and Concerns at Clevland Clinic London To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to provide feedback regarding the medical care and services we received at Clevland Clinic London following an accident that necessitated our transfer to your facility. While we found the accommodations to be of a satisfactory standard, there were notable deficiencies in the overall care provided during our stay, which raised significant concerns. Firstly, the physical environment, including the room and facilities, was commendable, with a notable standard of cleanliness. However, the quality of care we received did not align with the expected standards of a renowned institution like Clevland Clinic. Our primary concern revolved around the insufficient attention given to medical monitoring and care. Throughout our stay, we observed a lack of consistency in essential medical procedures such as regular blood tests and vital sign monitoring. This inconsistency in care almost resulted in a life-threatening situation. There were instances when we urgently requested nursing assistance, only to experience prolonged response times. On some occasions, we waited for approximately 20 minutes with the call light unanswered, leading to frustration and uncertainty about the level of care we were receiving. It appeared that there was an understaffing issue within the facility, which may have contributed to the delayed responses. Additionally, it seemed that the orthopedic ward received less emphasis on medical care, in comparison to a more intensive care setting. However, this lack of attention to detail had severe consequences. For instance, despite noticeable symptoms such as vomiting and severe diarrhea, the medical staff failed to conduct essential tests to assess blood levels, sodium levels, and electrolytes for an extended period, spanning several days. This neglect extended to the failure to provide specific dietary and medial accommodations aligned with the patient's needs. Furthermore, the patient's vomiting persisted without any intervention, including necessary blood tests or adjustments to her medication regimen. Such lapses in care were unexpected from a healthcare facility affiliated with the esteemed reputation of the Cleveland Clinic. It appeared that there were no established protocols for routine blood testing, medication monitoring, or consistent care, creating an atmosphere where essential medical decisions were made on an ad hoc basis. In contrast, healthcare facilities in the United States typically adhere to rigorous standards of daily blood testing, regardless of the patient's ward. Our admission for a fracture ultimately led to the emergence of medical issues we did not initially present with, which is deeply concerning. In light of these observations, I kindly request a thorough review of the medical care provided during our stay at Clevland Clinic and the implementation of improved protocols to ensure consistent and appropriate care for all patients, irrespective of their ward. Furthermore, we were informed, only towards the conclusion of our stay, that the charges would be significantly increased due to the involvement of insurance coverage. It was disconcerting to discover that the billing structure differed for insured patients compared to those who were self-paying. This critical information was not disclosed to us at the outset, leaving us with an unexpected financial burden of 2,000 pounds. Such a billing practice appears to be ethically questionable, as it creates an impression of undisclosed costs and a lack of transparency.
