Nurse Leopoldo N, was the best nurse I could’ve asked for during my stay. He was very helpful at all times! He updated me with my progress and test results. He listened to me when I advised him where it would be best to collect my blood from. He made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. He was the only nurse who actually informed me that he was finishing his shift & updated me on who I was being handed over to.

Suggested improvements
My admission letter stated that I could consume liquids up until 2 hours prior my procedure. However, when I arrived in my room and Nurse Veronica asked if I needed anything, I asked for a black coffee & she told me I was unable to have anything to drink. My anaesthesiologist informed me that I could’ve had something to drink & he apologised for the misinformation on the nurse’s behalf. The nurses could’ve actually filled out the board in my room so I knew who was taking care of me (with the exception of Michelle, Josephine & Leopoldo), as I felt very much so like ‘pass the parcel’. I encountered new staff almost every time I rang the call bell. Pharmacy takes far too long to dispense medication. I was ready to be discharged after my last round of antibiotics, but I had to wait around because we were still waiting on my medication.

Nurse Leopoldo, Michelle & Josephine. Nurse Leopoldo was attentive & gentle with me post surgery. When he was prescribing the IV antibiotics it didn’t burn as much because he took his time with it. He was gentle with the bladder scanner as I had an incision where the scan was being done. He was my favourite member of the team throughout my stay! Nurse Michelle was lovely, she explained how the catheter was going to be removed as I was very anxious about this. Although she was not the one to remove it, she helped me feel more relaxed about it. Her energy was lovely to have around. Nurse Josephine did most of my observations throughout the night. She was quick but thorough so that she didn’t disturb me a great deal. When my catheter was removed, there was blood on the sheets which I was embarrassed by. She didn’t make a fuss about it, she just cleaned the bed and gave me fresh sheets. It made me feel a little less awkward. I thanked her for the fresh sheets.
