I am in awe and humbled on how well I was looked after. My treatment and care was unbelievable. And always done for my goods, and together with me so that I should feel comfortable with the knowledge of my care. The sensitivity, kindness and constant smile on all the faces of every nurse, and the constant encouragement from all the team helping me recover, including the nutrition and dietetic team, definitely helped me in my challenging hospital moments. Special shout out to the unbelievable Health Care Assistants, Abdu, Alex and Billy. It was your warmth, care, genuine concern, constant availability to listen, understand, sympathise, help me during my difficult moments, and all in all just be so sensitive to my needs. During EVERY MINUTE of my stay. When I heard, at the beginning of each shift, that my HCA's would be Abdu, Alex or Billy, I automatically felt safe. My care in their hands was something I will always remember.

Suggested improvements
The actual room could do with a few changes to help make the stay a little more comfortable. 1) the blinds should be able to open or close as much as the patient wants. Currently its either completely open or completely closed which takes away the option of enjoying daylight when the sun is beating in as I had to close it completely to avoid the suns glare. 2) the shower room/toilet, has a few faults. There is absolutely nowhere to put the fresh clothes down every time you go in to have a shower. Every time I would use the shower, I would have to put my fresh clothes on the floor for when I finish the shower. Besides for it being unhygienic, and needing to bend down (post surgery, a difficult challenge), the clothes would inevitability get wet as all the shower water would leak out given that there isn't a shower stand, only direct on the same floor as the whole toilet/shower room. There also wasn't any place to hang a bathtowel in the room while I was having a shower. It didn't help me that the only available rail is directly under the running water of the shower. 3) the heating and warmth of the room was very bad. Most of the days I was shivering with cold. According to the nurses who agreed with me, they said that all the rooms, only on that side, the side I was staying in, were cold (541, 542, 539..). 4)the kosher food itself was very Good, yet the service of the food needs working on. The mistakes with the food, (especially during my First 3 weeks of my 5 week stay), were so bad that it was laughable. Even my consultant Mr Reddy, the nutritionist Eloise Garbutt, and the nurses couldn't believe how so many mistakes could be made. Examples : Warm up the wrong food, forget to order food, deliver the wrong food, not have food to serve. Send in one kitchen staff member to ask me to fill in my order for the next few days, only to be told a few hours later by the next member that nothing was on the system, nothing was ordered, so I have to choose what ever is available in the freezer. I felt that all these problems, on a daily basis, were a communication issue between the kitchen staff. Every head, manager, and server did what they felt was right, yet nothing was reported back, which made me get multiple visits of many kitchen staff heads, on a daily basis, asking me the same questions such as what do I want for dinner, and many times the same requests to fill out the food order yet again. Though, I must say, After 3 weeks, with daily mistakes, the kitchen staff finally learnt their lessons, and my last 2 weeks were not as bad. Though, really, it shouldn't be the headache of a patient, who is in pain, weak and working on recovering, to have the pressure of the meals, and need to have the constant headache of making sure I won't go hungry, the meal will be delivered, the correct food will be warmed up.

There are simply no amount of words that can adequately describe Mr Reddy. It takes a consultant to heal a patient medically. Yet it takes a human being, especially one as kind, compassionate, patient, caring and understanding, to completely heal a patient. In every aspect. Physically AND emotionally. Thank you Mr Reddy for holding my hand, especially during my most vulnerable moments. Thank you for giving me such phenomenal care. And thank you for your complete dedication and devotion to my wellbeing and health. Although I know you are an extremely busy man and that I am one of many, when you were with me, or even when I contacted you with my worries and questions, I would truly feel as though I am your only patient. Something which has left me feeling truly humbled and in awe of.
