Surgeon O'Neill, Anesthetist Appleby, and Doctor Donaldson inspired trust and confidence throughout. Most impressive experience in theatre. The aftercare on Floor 4 was exceptional managed by Staff Nurse Bacamcallo. All of the nurses attending to me during my 4 days were polite, caring and efficient and made me feel an important priority. I cannot fault the care I received. I received a daily visit from the support doctors including Donaldson to ensure I was receiving the right treatment, medicines and making progress. Very reassuring. I received three physio visits to get me up and moving. These were positive, encouraging and each physio gave me helpful routines and tips to help my recuperation. My room was cleaned daily and remained spotless. Bed linen was changed as needed. My meals were served to time and well presented. In short I received first class care throughout.

Suggested improvements
It's hard to suggest improvements to such a splendid service. The only issue I have had is Cleveland liaison with my Bupa insurer. Late and incomplete documentation caused stress and uncertainty for me personally on the operating day. I believe it has since been addressed.


Consultant O'Neill is one of the leading neurosurgeons in the country and I was lucky to benefit from his surgery. He instilled confidence leading up to the operation and followed up at the weekend to ensure I was making progress.


Consultant O'Neill whose vast experience and reputation gives great confidence. Anesthetist Appleby who made being being given a full anesthetic almost enjoyable. And Dr Donaldson who was present in theatre and followed up with me in Room 430 to discuss progress and future medication upon discharge. Staff Nurse Bacamcallo whose nursing team were exception throughout, visited me daily to check all was running smoothly, dealt with any questions, and talked me through my discharge chart, explaining each of the multiple medicine doses and frequency. All of the many nurses who cared for me during my 4 day stay.
