The staff were all very helpful and keen to put me at my ease. The cubicles in Endoscopy are excellent and having one's own lavatory is excellent for the type of procedure. I also liked the fact that the nurses could easily monitor the patients from the desk due to the layout of the department. I could always see someone so felt safe.

Suggested improvements
I was disappointed that having had a pre-assessment call booked for 0815 no-one called and I had to call three times to be able to get through to someone. On the first occasion I was put through to the department but no-one answered. On the second occasion the switchboard operator had not heard of Endoscopy, when she eventually found it, she explained she was in another building. As a patient, I am not interested where she is I just want my call dealt with quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately I then had to make a third call as she said she said she couldn't transfer me and needed to give me the number. The lavatory in the cubicle could have been cleaner and there was lavatory paper on the floor; I was the first appointment of the day. After the procedure I was offered tea and a sandwich which was very welcome after not eating for so long but, unfortunately, the egg sandwich was so stale I couldn't eat it. I assume it was left over from the day before. Just as an aside on this survey I have answered that the call bell was always answered but I didn't actually use it so an "not applicable" option would be sensible.

All the staff in the department were lovely.
