Compared to NHS care, everything went briskly and efficiently as if the care team fully appreciated that I just wanted to get back to my normal life as soon as possible. This was especially true of discharge, with no hanging around for meds and forms as there would be at an NHS hospital. There was a palpable feeling of energy. I also felt that the entire team, especially the surgeon and the anaesthetist, were at the top of their game and excellent at communication. The building, too, is exceptional.

Suggested improvements
My frustrations came before admission.Once my procedure date had been verbally agreed with the consultant, I received no written confirmation via MyChart or anything else for over a week, and no dates were set for the various blood tests, MRSA swabs and ECG I had to have. I was left hanging and couldn't make plans to take time off work. I then showed up for blood tests, was allowed to go back to my office - and then received a call saying I had to go back to the clinic because they had "forgotten" to do my ECG. The person on the phone then gave me location details and names of staff at the wrong Cleveland Clinic and had to call me back to correct the information. Furthermore, questions I asked via the MyChart message facility went unanswered.
