Nursing staff were kind and gentle.only once did I feel nervous when an agency nurse didn’t seem confident about a procedure. It was very obvious who were staff and who were agency . Different emotional investment

Suggested improvements
I think the physio was poor. In my case it consisted of asking if I understood the log roll and a walk around the corridors and stair evaluation. More info could be given on the physio sheet. I looked up what not to do on the internet and I think it was John Hopkins which gave illustrations on how to bend , go to the loo etc.More practical tips needed. Eg how to get into the car, LONDON taxi. I have been doing exercises before the op and would have liked the opportunity to explore what exercise schedule I should adopt in the following weeks. In addition no written info on when to remove surgical stockings I also think more discussion should be had about pain and paracetamol . My back is stiff and aches but that is normal after an op. If you feel that you modify your activities. However if drugged up yoiu may not feel the ache and over extend oneself.


I met a couple of consultants before I met MS Murphy .They gave me little time ( in once case 11 mins on the phone.) Ms Ms Murphy , when I met her and asked how long she had got replied what do you need. SHE also rang my husband after the op to assure him all well. SO much appreciated.


Clinic was clean , staff behaved in professional manner and I felt safe. I was very reassured by the portal -being able to see my test results and knowing that anybody treating me had access to that rather than waiting for a trolly with my info ! Use of technology very reassuring with staff checking before they gave drugs etc. Blood takers all good. Really important as most of us hate giving blood!
