Lots of reassurance, Encouraged to be proactive in my recovery. TLC in ward immediately after theatre was very good. It helped me feel more confident when I was moved to rehab. Prior to my operation everything was clearly explained. Staff were all professional, reassuring and made me feel safe. This played a big part in helping me feel OK in recovery and rehab. What could be improved. The anesthetist told me to clear with physio that I needed pain meds 1/2 hrs before exercise to start with. First physio agreed, we worked out how this could happen. Different physio was busy, said he had a meeting. I found I had to be very assertive and was eventually given pain meds, he then did not return. A very negative experience. Third physio was great, she answers queries and was very positive and encouraging. Notice you don't ask/record sexuality, studies show that LGBT clients prefer this.
