Utterly disgraceful. I am an extremely vulnerable adult with multiple severe mental illnesses. I was on the waiting list for an extended period of time and was offered an appointment to start therapy at a completely different location than Chantry House, which is inaccessable to me due to having severe anxiety. I asked for an appointment at Chantry and went back on the waiting list. I get approached end of last year to start therapy and was given an inappropriate time that I cannot commit to due to several valid reasons - I asked if they could offer another time slot or day and they told me they couldn't. The therapist then said I could go back on the waiting list. I then got completely ignored for a month, despite numerous phone calls trying to talk to the therapist. I was told I had to attend a physical health check or be discharged. I found out these are normally voluntary and said I would not attend until someone speaks to me about why I am getting contradictory advice about these. I was still completely ignored. I then recieved a deliberately misleading letter after a month of zero contact, to myself and my gp stating I was declining appointments suggesting I was making excuses as I "didn't want to change". This letter also told me that going back on the waiting list "wasn't in my best interest" and then threatened me with discharge if I didn't attend the same inappropriate time & day I was given. I again tried to speak to the therapist via phone call and she declined to talk to me unless I attended the appointment, suggesting I call the duty care team if I need help with anything else. I wrote a complaint about everything including the therapists conduct and recieved a reply 2-3 weeks later. The Dr who replied made no mention of the therapists unacceptable conduct & lack of communication/silent treatment. There was no discussion or answer as to why I couldn't go back on the waiting list for an appointment to start therapy at a suitable time at a suitable location. They pretty much admitted that me not attending the Physical and asking questions about it before "suggested I wasn't committed to therapy" which was really shocking, considering they had over a week to discuss the appointment with me and failed to contact me or talk to me about it. The doctor also told me that I wouldn't be able to commit to therapy due to my personal circumstances as there therapy was very intense - telling me as well as one to one sessions, I would be required to attend a two hour weekly skills group & telephone guidance on how to apply these skills in my everyday life. The therapist had never explained any of that to me, so it turns out I had no idea what the therapy actually entailed, as they only told me that I was having one to one sessions. My complaint had actually highlighted another serious failing with that therapist. The final part of the letter was not clear and I enquired as to weather I was still under their care as they had threatened discharge previously. I was told to expect a call back regarding this. I logged onto my doctors surgery online account and sure enough they did discharge me without even telling me. Further to this in the complaint I also asked to speak with a psychologist as two of my diagnosis has mysteriously disappeared off my notes with Chantry, and was told by the Dr that they would arrange this - how is that supposed to happen when theyve now discharged me from their services? Utterly disgusting and completely unfit for service. Discharged because I was asking questions & requesting an appointment at a suitable time & location. No one at Chantry seems to know their *** from their elbow and the whole scenario seemed very underhanded as the therapist clearly had an agenda of 'do what I say or your out'. Chantry does whatever they want and didn't care at all about what I said or felt. To clarify, Chantry said it "wasn't in my best interest" not to attend the unsuitable timed therapy appointment, but it apparently was in my best interest for them to discharge an extremely vulnerable adult with no support network & then ended up saying that therapy wasn't suitable for me currently anyway?. How inconsistent, incompetent and absurd can a mental health clinic get.
