I want to just say everyone else was so lovely and I felt so welcome and safe by them. this one nurse how ever didnt. I was there for my first time, which is pretty scary; possibly finding out if I was pregnant and I wanted to go back on the pill. I was seen by David, probably the loveliest man you will ever meet! if you’re going to brook, ask for him! the lady at reception as well was so lovely. But I had a nurse who wasn’t very nice and shamed me, also called me very over weight and that I need to make more effort to lose weight. It’s a sex clinic, I’m not here for someone to tell me about my weight. I’m not even the biggest person and by professional GP doctors have never had this worry or they have never raised it even when I used to be at my biggest. She assumed I didn’t make effort to move or work out, even though I go to the gym most days a week and I am a dancer. Luckily as an adult I am proud of my body and who I am, my weight has never given me health issues as I’m only a size 14. I am on a healthy lifestyle, eating better and working out, but every women’s body is different, I also suffer with bad mental health so what she said stuck with me. It’s also how she said too if it was me when I was 15 it would of caused me so much pain and hurt. I just think when you come to a place like brook you shouldn’t feel ashamed of what you have done or who you are. If she was concerned about my weight she could of been nicer about it. Instead of hello she went straight into saying that. I will continue to come to brook as David and the other staff were amazing and they made me feel so safe but I left feeling so ashamed of myself and who I am, it caused me massive amounts of anxiety and I just hate to think if it was a young teenager. I didn’t get her name but she was around 50/60 slim and a nurse. Thank you for reading this.
