I came into the Brook Blackburn today after being recommended by my GP. Around a month ago, my GP had struggled to remove my contraceptive implant which was deeply embedded in my arm, she advised that the professionals at the Brook would perhaps find it easier to remove otherwise I would need to go to the hospital for the removal. When I arrived today, I was extremely nervous from my previous experiences having the implant removed but all of my anxieties faded when I was met with the lovely staff member on reception who was exceptionally warm and welcoming. Shortly after, I was seen by the lady who took my implant out.Due to how deeply embedded my implant was, I was aware this would be a challenge and would take longer than usual but with lots of patience and care, it finally came out. I was given a drink and some biscuits and plenty of advice about aftercare and informed about the signs of infection. I can’t thank the staff at Brook enough for managing to remove my implant and treating me with such kindness and care, I will be returning for any other contraceptive matters in the future! My only regret is not getting the staff members names before I left but they really are a credit to the service.
