Improvements points: better opportunities for us to do some more pampering and increase our self-esteem such as waxing, threading or also allowing hairdressers to come visit us often; please look at diagnosis and risk assessments for suicidal behaviour so that a few of us can use hairdressers and/or mobile and laptop changers in their own rooms; finally please fill a body map of bruises and injuries in case someone gets hurt physically by any members of staff or even other patients or themselves while at Berywood hospital and if necessary please do blood tests with rape kit.
I am always treated with kindness and compassion by the whole team. They provide excellent care.
I got great care. A great team.
Sara the ward matron has been very helpful in my recovery process, she will give you as much time as needed to express my feelings and concerns. She is one person that I know I will get a truthful answer from, and I know where I stand with her.
Emma, has been helpful, she has helped me and encouraged me to do activities that I actually really did end up enjoying. I have never met anyone on this ward that is so positive with every situation and it really does make things a lot easier.
The majority of the staff do work really hard but there are some that sit in the office near enough all of the shift and are very lazy.
It was very good to have conversations with a few members who tell the patients about things the way they are, but unfortunately others (or because they are recent in our Bay Ward or due to not having enough time to go through written documents before dealing with patients here) seems to confuse patients by saying opposite rules regarding the use of some rooms and allowed activities to different people. Does this depend on our behaviour? Still the words "please" + "thanks" are welcome.
Mostly things to be improved (if possible):
1) Please allow us to enjoy a higher number of options for several fruits and vegetables from bananas, nectarines to parsnips, green apples, grapes, pumpkin soup and wild berries.
2) Please allow 1 day per week for our patients to create their own milkshakes.
3) Please borrow us headphones to use the stereo while alone listening to CDs or radio in the music room if necessary.
4) Please provide us with a sandwich toaster.
