I recently visited the hospital to have my coil removed, and I must say, the care I received from the nurse was exceptional. From the moment I walked in, she made me feel comfortable and at ease. She took the time to explain the procedure thoroughly, answering all of my questions with patience and expertise. Throughout the entire process, she exhibited a high level of professionalism and compassion, ensuring that I felt supported and cared for every step of the way. Her gentle demeanour and reassuring presence truly made a difference in my experience. Unfortunately, I forgot to get her name (black female with classes and wearing red trousers I’m describing u just in case u see this) but I wished more nurses were like u coz it’s very difficult to find someone like u working (coz normally everyone is rude…)… thank you xxx
The nurse to saw me was so gentle and kind. Made me not feel judged and made me feel comfortable.
Very friendly and professional doctor and super quick service.
My father (93 years old in May) just came out of hospital following a fall and recovering from pneumonia. He complained of sores/sore red patches on his penis so I accompanied him by public transport to the Sexual Health Clinic at Barking Hospital as I had no way of telling which of the possible causes I could think of it might be - and therefore whether to treat or not - without professional advice.
There were no available slots remaining in the session as the session was from 1pm to 4pm and every place was taken after less then thirty minutes from the start. However, one of the reception staff whose name began with an M and whom I think was called Marcie, asked me to wait whilst she consulted with a nurse. Marcie returned and offered my father three options. There simply were no slots available. They were all gone and Dad could not be squeezed in on the end or in between. He could wait and see but the nurse would be most unhappy with Dad at his age and infirmity waiting for 3 1/2 hrs until the end of the session hoping the nurse could see him. However, if Dad could return at 5pm or thereabouts the nurse guaranteed he would be seen as an emergency. The 1-4 clinic patients would be gone by then and the nurse would give their full attention to my dad and not to worry if he was a little late, the nurse would definitely see him. Marcie answered my questions as to nearby eateries, there did not appear to be much nearby other than the hospital itself, we shared a laugh when I said Dad's just spent 10 days' straight eating hospital food and needs a change, Dad and I left and returned shortly after 5pm and were seen. The Sexual Health Nurse introduced himself as Gio and invited us into the consultation room. Gio allowed me to speak about my concerns and ideas for how I thought the problem had arisen. He not only allowed me to speak but answered all my questions and offered the following information: one of my suggestions was that Dad for the last 20 years has lived with daily dry skin and recently changed his soap and perhaps the chemicals in that had irritated his penis. After listening to all my concerns, Gio returned to the point about the soap/cleaning agent and told Dad and I and both of us agreed later that we never knew this and the trip to the Sexual Health Clinic was not only useful because Dad was given a clean bill of health not only at the time but when the results arrived discretely later by text on his personal mobile phone - but was crucial if only for that one piece of information alone that Gio shared with us. Genitals work best when they are washed gently but thoroughly/efficiently with water alone - no soap or any other cleaner/cleansing agent - by hand once per day each morning. And that's it. It's a myth that soap is required to clean genitals, they are self-cleansing as long as they are treated correctly and then they will do the job themselves. After Gio had listened to my concerns, he turned to Dad to ask and answer questions. Then he called Jayne, an assistant/accompanying/chaperone colleague in and they went with Dad from the consulting room to the adjoining examination room and both declared Dad to be in very good condition, which is to say normal, upon medical inspection. The three of them returned to the consulting room and I was asked to leave, which I did, so they could talk in private. After they had finished they brought Dad back to the waiting room to relax and drink water until he felt in a position to provide a urine sample. All the staff afforded plenty of time to us despite the clinic running over time; there was no rush and the staff all waited until the urine sample was obtained, and stayed late at the clinic until everything that needed to be done in terms of Dad's health was completed, before we left and they locked up and were able to leave. Every member of staff I saw that day - 27/03/2024 - was kind and efficient and there is nothing any of the staff I saw in action, or in passing, or was directly involved with could have done better than they did because they either did everything that was required or they surpassed any reasonable expectation. Even the admin was good, eg Dad received all three texts, including the text showing the final results, was sent to Dad in a timely manner.
Very involved all way round.
The receptionist were friendly, lots of seating and tv on (perhaps add subtitles as it’s very quiet) I arrived early and was seen early too which was good. The nurse was extremely lovely I’d go as far as saying was the kindest and knowledgeable I’ve seen in years! Thank you to the nurse
Great service
Explained everything in detail
The nurse was so kind and professional
Really, really thorough, understanding and reassuring - thank you sincerely to Dr Sheikh and Dr Bhari, the two reception staff and the two nurses for doing the best.
