This is the very first time in my dealings with many Oxford health establishments that I felt angry and upset. I went because I had developed a sizeable haematoma on my calf following a fall on the advice of my daughter who happens to be a GP. She had said it was advisable to get it looked at as infection and complications can easily set in and my age - 73 - does not improve things When I was examined the staff concerned were very dismissive - frozen peas ice pack and raise the leg. Fair enough, I did say there hadn’t appeared to be any infection , but I was happy to wait two hours, I just wanted a bit of reassurance and correct treatment. But for them to be so dismissive as to be rude, including the comment that my daughter “should have known better” left me very angry. So unnecessary and not very professional

Suggested improvements
A bit of politeness and the realisation that there are people who do think carefully about coming to seek medical help as they don’t intentionally want to waste anyone’s time. The fact was my leg wasn’t infected, so why was I there, was nothing to worry about . But I had been worried, the haematoma was quite large, and I had been worried as I hadn’t experienced anything like it before. I felt I might just as well hung a time waster label round my neck as that is how I was made to feel.
