Had to wait in telephone queue but it moved along quickly & I was given an appointment the same day.
Not too difficult but usually a wait
I have rated the stars accordingly as the doctor did the vital checks needed, but to attain the appointment was difficult. My son (10) has had a temperature for 3 days and I rang to get an appointment to have him checked over. I had covid tested my son which was negative also. As I relayed this info to the receptionist I was told it was a bit ridiculous to make an appointment when my son had had a temperature just for 3 days. I explained I wanted to get him checked out as also the school would expect that he at least attain a doctors appointment as they are very tight on absences, and I didn’t want to appear to not at least have him checked. I was told there wasn’t many appointments and maybe this was unnecessary and the school is at fault for having my son checked. I was taken aback by this attitude but wasn’t rude and the lady gave me an appointment. The doctor checked his throat, listened to his chest and said to keep on with paracetamol and that’s it, it’s probably viral. I was happy with the diagnosis as unfortunately illness cannot be pinpointed and mostly needs to run its course. I was not happy about being told it was a bit ridiculous to ask for an appointment when he has had a temperature for 3 days. Actually making me feel like checking in with a doctor is unreasonable?!? This attitude I feel is not acceptable! If my son was an overweight obese smoker- I would expect my son should make lifestyle changes to keep well, but this is a healthy young boy who yes is building an immune system, and cannot control illness as much- and feel it’s irresponsible of the receptionist to call this ask to see the doctor ridiculous! I pay my national insurance and taxes- and am entitled to ask for an appointment! Guidelines for children’s temperatures also state to check in with a doctor if it persists for 72 hours- so who is at fault here? Me as a parent and the patient, or the receptionist. I would like to make a formal complaint, but feel it’s pointless.
I phoned in the morning hoping for an urgent appointment to check I had not developed a chest infection, one question from the receptionist and she immediately booked me in for a morning appointment.
The doctor was also attentive and thorough, and reassuring. i did not feel rushed at any time. I could not have asked for a better experience.
Excellent, punctual, friendly and professional service.
