Portland Medical Practice
Anchor Meadow Health Centre, Aldridge, Walsall, West Midlands, WS9 8AJ 79 reviewsReviews
Have been with this practise for over 15 years. In that time I have needed 2 very serious major operations and always had support from the GPs there. Also have an on going serious lung disease which needs regular medication. Always able to see someone in an emergency even if its not the GP I would prefer to see. Wouldn't leave this area as I doubt I could find as good care and attention anywhere else.
In my experience, all of the doctors and nurses are friendly, polite, caring and knowledgeable.
It is difficult to get an appointment to see a named, preferred, doctor. However, if you are not particular, or if in urgent need, an early appointment will be arranged.
In general, the receptionists are polite and helpful and the practice buildings are clean, light and airy.
The introduction of electronic repeat prescriptions seems to be working efficiently from the practice side, but the attached pharmacy needs to up their game to reduce the long waiting time whilst collecting the prescription and also to eliminate the frequent unavailability of drugs and the need to return at a later date to collect the outstanding item(s).
I have been with this practice since they opened and have always found everyone, from the Receptionists and Nurses to the Doctors, extremely helpful and supportive. I am a Type 1 Diabetic and the care I have received from their Diabetic Nurse, Sister Kate Mason, has been wonderful. I have regular prescriptions and have always been happy with that provision, especially with the co-operation of Boots Pharmacy in Aldridge. I cannot think of any particular improvements, because I have always received great support and service and cannot fault it.
As a retired NHS employee I do know the system slightly better than most. I therefore understand some of the constraints on the system as a result of governmental initiatives!!!
The biggest problem facing the NHS is the constantly increasing workload.
This is reflected by some strains showing but all the staff at Portland Practice do try their hardest, in my opinion, to understand our problems and resolve them. Thus we have a first class service with Doctors and Nurses who will go the extra mile to help us in every way possible.
I did not attend the Pharmacy .
My marks for the pharmacy would be 5/10 on a god day. To order anything by E/Mail
is a waste of time they do not check daily so you can go in two days later and still have to wait 20minutes or so. To have a delivery could have a wait of two days and a prescription could be missed of the monthly delivery.
Why does the age group go to 150?
