Sadly I have to say as a new patient to this surgery I've been really quite disappointed so far. I had my first antenatal appointment at this surgery last week and actually left in tears. The first antenatal appointment is a nervous and excited one for patients, but the midwife was very impersonal, and jumped straight into asking me which hospital I want to give birth in. I had no idea that I should know this so early on. I was told the reception staff should have given me leaflets and told me to choose before my first appointment. I've been informed by other mothers that this wasn't the case for them at all. Consequently nothing could be done at this first appointment and I had to rebook. The midwife didn't ask me about any symptoms or any health questions, didn't test to confirm the pregnancy, didn't provide any advice on nutrition or exercise etc and showed very little empathy or interest in my situation. In addition it's really difficult to get through on the phones to make an appointment, I've been misinformed by reception staff twice now ( I also had to return again with proof of address when I signed up because I wasn't told first time around).
