I have an on going issue with surgery following my husband’s death 3 and half years ago. I hoped to change to his Dr Parnell at this point my amazing GP Dr Lelly Waters having retired.request denied so no continuity and Covid restrictions brought in first time, day after his death. I get my repeat prescription but have not seen a GP since: I have lost faith in what used to be exceptional surgery 40 years ago when we joined surgery under John Carrol. I am not well but I would only be comfortable with Dr Parnell or Dr Bardiaz but apparently by letter from surgery I was told I was not able to choose. Someone completely new when it most needed someone who knew us both. No bereavement session was given me. This should explain my bitter disappointment with Northiam Surgery.
I could not pick up medicines on a Saturday. Why is the surgery not open at all on. Saturday? It used to be. I work full time all week in London, so being able to pick up medicines at the weekend or getting a appointment on a Saturday morning is essential from my point of view
New to the area and having developed severe chest pains I requested an appointment with a doctor. I was seen within an hour, discussed my situation. Given an ECG, sent to the local hospital with relevant documentation and had a stent fitted with 24 hrs. Amazing, incisive, decisive truly humbling service that saved my life! Home now reflecting and recovering restfully. Looking forward to taking our spaniels out for a gentle walk.
I both my husband myself have been patients at Northampton surgery for about 38 years, originally under the care of John Carol. We were blessed with excellent care and when he eventually retired things slowly changed. He was the reason for the Surgery’s exemplary reputation. My husband died over two years ago, at the start of the first COVID long lockdown. I felt neglected and alone which indeed I was.Dr Sally Parnell was his similarly excellent doctor. My doctor Lelly Waters retired during this time and I was left totally grieving alone. I thought if I could become Dr Parnell’s patient, as I had looked after my husband alone, she would be easy to talk to knowing our circumstances and would be of some comfort. I wrote to the Practice asking to be on her patient list now Dr Waters had retired. Not to be. A blunt and cursory response from Administration said positively NO and left me not knowing who would be there for me. I think this couldn’t possibly have happened ‘back in the day’. Consequently I haven’t seen a doctor there for 2 and a half years. I am 80 suffer badly from arthritis and asthma and feel abandoned. So unkind and dismissive. I’m still grieving.
Every member of staff working at Northiam surgery is customer / patient focused / polite / keen to assist / supportive
I highly recommend the surgery
