I am not impressed with the decision to change the sit and wait. I think that sit and wait needed to have more structure. Time slots would have been better than asking everyone to turn up at 9am and wait until the clinic started at gone 12. I feel that if every doctor had atleast 2/3 timeslots they could see an urgent that it would run more smoothly. As I work within the NHs myself I know this system works. The new urgent care system is ridiculous, just today I phoned to book an appointment for my 2 year old daughter only to be told the next bookable appointment isnt until the 29th Sept.The receptionist suggested that a prescription will be ready for me to collect this afternoon following the opportunity I have to explain what I THINK is wrong with my daugher over the phone to a paramedic. I think it absolutely disgusting that antibiotics can be prescribed without being seen by a doctor. I dont know for sure that my daugher has a throat infection that can be treated with antibiotics it may be flu like systems. I strongly feel that this system needs to go.
