I had a telephone consultation with a nurse which was booked after a repeat blood test. When I answered the telephone the nurse asked what she could do for me which surprised me as the practice arranged the appointment. I found the discussion of the blood results and resultant change of medication dose confusing as I was unsure which blood test was being referred to.

Suggested improvements
Be better prepared for prearranged telephone consultations by reading the notes before the call. Where consultations are regarding results which could lead to a change in treatment it would be more appropriate to be face to face in the Medical Practice. This would enable clearer explanations to be given and facilitate joint decision making.
