A follow up telephone call was made the day after I cancelled my original appointment.

The call back system worked well although it took over 30 minutes to work through the queue. The appointment was for a blood test. Had to wait well beyond the appointment time but only because the nurse took great care and consideration of her clients.

Suggested improvements
Move the surgery to somewhere patients can park or ask staff to park further away and free up the private parking area. Would putting pressure on the council to restore the free parking in the public car park encourage shop workers taking up the road outside, or ask the council to make it a 2 hour maximum parking road.

I've had no recent problems in arranging routine appointments with nurse. When contacting GP I think I've been able to talk with one in a reasonable time, but it's quite a long time since I did this.

I visited the Old Town Surgery just before Christmas and was able to book an appointment with little queuing. Dr. Akin was very thorough and was able to advise me on two concerns, including arranging for a blood test (the next morning) in relation to a bone density scan that was being dealt with by another part of the NHS. He was very patient and I didn't feel rushed at all. The blood test was also a positive experience. I had virtually no wait and the nurse was happy to accommodate my request for me to lie down for the procedure. She was also very patient and friendly, taking the time to put me at my ease and to answer my questions about the blood test aims.

I was electronically notify of an appointment required. I made the appointment electronically and within a couple of minutes I had an appointment the following day. Staff in reception were helpful and friendly when I went to the surgery, my appointment was carried out at the time stated and clinician was also helpful, friendly and gave me advise and information leaflets.
