Although understanding that the Surgery is a teaching one and that the registrars need experience, it is sometime more appropriate from the patient’s point of view to speak to their GP. It is also understood that the GPs have a challenging workload, but it is counterproductive if repeated appointments with other doctors does not seem to deal with the problem that the patient has gone to the surgery for. This is even more important with more serious ongoing issues. So, I am offering this as my opinion on getting an appointment, as it is actually difficult to get to see my GP. I would like to end on a more positive note….I have been able to get an appointment quite quickly to see someone else, which is ok when not relevant to my ongoing issues…..and it seems, speaking to friends/neighbours, that we are pretty lucky in that respect.
