The nurse we had did not seem very interested in explaining our son’s treatment or in ensuring he was ok and settled. We feel she prolonged the injections rather than getting them done to give us opportunity to comfort our baby. She didn’t really talk to us and we left feeling it was an unsettling experience. We thought if we were first time parents or had gone in alone it would have been very difficult. The nurse did tell us to call back if we were concerned with a high temperature or to call 111 if out of hours, this was good advice.

Our previous experiences of immunisations at the surgery have been excellent, the nurse explained everything and supported us to comfort our baby. Just talking to parents and helping at a very stressful and upsetting time goes a long way.
