I have never had a problem getting an appointment so far as long as I’m able to call the surgery when it opens it’s phone line at 8.30 am and be prepared to wait a while to speak to the receptionist

The nurse fitted me in with no appointment to dress a leg wound. The doctor listened to my concerns.

Over a period of illness lasting nearly four weeks, which was flu, followed by bronchitis and sinusitis I spoke to Michael and Liam. They gave me a treatment plan. When to take antibiotics if needed. As I live on my own 80 though quite fit, it is scarey when you suddenly find yourself struck down, my daughter helped and friends when not working came down. It was reassuring to be able to speak to Michael and told what to do and when. Eventually I came down to the Surgerey, and Michael checked me out.

Suggested improvements
As regards this experiance I would say it was dealt with as well as possible via the phone. I do feel there is a real need for people living on their own and older at some point during the illness to be checked by a visiting nurse, if they feel so ill they can't make it to the Surgerey as in my case.Receptionists roles have changed a lot, they get involved now in the medical side, which may be misleading to the patient, as in my case I was told the antibiotics would make me feel better, which they didn't, And I felt worse. Better not to say.

Not very easy to get face to face appointment

I had an answer message on my home phone saying my prescription needing reviewing so I rang to make an appointment was told the pharmacist at the practise would ring me when he rang Abbas I think is his name he asked me why I had rang and I said you rang me he didn't seem to know why he had rang then asked what medication I was taking I also told him that I had just been through a big blood test as I'm waiting to have open heart surgery he told me that it wasn't a good idea to take Naproxen for my arthritis if I had a heart valve that needs replacing I told him I had seen the specialist nurse at the hospital and the surgeon and neither of those people had told me not to take so now I'm a bit concerned whether I should be taking it or not I was just told nearer the operation to stop taking it for 5 days
