I had made previous telephone appt where doctor made an appt for me to come in to see Nurse Teresa Meeke who was friendly and took time to explain fully what a my diagnosis was, what the tests she took were for and the treatment she proposed. She also took the time to double check with the doctor that the treatment she proposed was the correct procedure for the stage of my condition. Teresa made an appt for me before I left for the following week for further treatment. Surgery was in "Covid_19 mode" so receptionists not really involved.
