I would not recommend the practice at the moment as I saw my doctor on the 25/11/15 to inform him that I had made a difficult decision to go ahead with an operation to have an eye removed and he said that he would inform the surgeon at Peterborough Hospital for me. As there is a waiting list with waiting times up to 18 weeks I assumed that he would do this straight away. Found out later that he didn't contact the surgeon until the 15/!2/15, 3 weeks later thereby delaying my operation by 3 weeks. I have since asked my doctor if he knew when my operation might be and if I was on the waiting list, which he confirmed I was. In the last week I spoke to my doctor because I have a holiday booked for mid June and was hoping to get everything completed before then as I am driving my 86 year old mother to Jersey. Doctor said he would try to " expedite " my treatment. I contacted the surgeon's secretary myself this week only to find out I wasn't on the waiting list but that I am now!!! This means that the last 12 weeks have been wasted and I could have been potentially near the top of the waiting list and close to having my operation. As it stands however if I have to wait the full 18 weeks it means my operation will be due during the first week of my holiday!!!! Hopefully you will agree that the service has been far from first class as I feel that if I hadn't taken matters into my own hands nothing would have been done.

I appreciate the service I receive from Bourne Galletly Medical Practice because everyone is so helpful from the reception/admin staff to the medical team whether over the telephone or in person. It is relatively easy to get help and advice as to whether a telephone consultation or a visit to the surgery is the best option. The "triage" system means that whoever you speak to or see has time for you and sees you as an individual.

With the new system its easy to get misdiagnosed ! Yesterday I was told I had a viral infection over the phone . Within hours I was complaining that I was cold even tho I was sweating. My partner went in and got the same doctor to ring me back, I had to ask/beg to see a nurse ! When I saw the nurse I was told I had tonsillitis etc and put on 10 days course of antibiotics......hardly viral: I was in so much pain it reduced me to tears .

Surgery now operates telephone appointments but the doctors always call back within the hour & see you same day. Quick & effecient service.
