I had been trying for some months to get an appointment

There aren't enough appointments available even after telephoning at 8am and waiting for about half an hour to speak to a receptionist. The problem seems to be a sudden rise in the population due to new housing and too few doctors to support so many new patients.

I have always had very helpful receptionists who are doing their best so I really don't know what the answer is.
