Following not having a response to my system online message to my gp ( he was on leave which I understand but there is no means for messages to be signposted on if this is the case) I contacted the surgery by phone. The receptionist was really helpful and understanding my circumstances she arranged for me to have a telephone consultation the following week with a physiotherapist. She said he would decide if a face to face appointment was needed. I found the phone consultation really in'-personal and felt like I was in a call with a call centre handler rather than a medical practitioner. I felt there was a lack of empathy for how difficult the last month has been for me and a lack of support and guidance around how I could become comfortably mobile again to get back to work after several weeks of being in so much pain and discomfort when moving around. I found it hard to understand how I was physically presented could accurately be assessed without a physical examination and how a true understanding of my pain levels could really be assessed by just a series of questions. I do not understand the purpose of system on line messaging service if GPs do not want this to be a means for patients to share medical concerns and information. I feel this is a good way to communicate in order to be able to give full information and then for a gp to decide action or consultation. Dr link does not enable a patient to give accurate full information and the information it can provides a patient with can be unhelpful. Regardless of personal views on holistic practises I feel it is unprofessional for a practitioner to say that they take another practitioners observations 'with a pinch of salt', as was the case when I shared my accupuncturists observations with the physio. Other than the physio going to be making arrangements for a receptionist to contact me with a date fot blood tests to rule out particular concerns to me I didn't find the phone consultation particularly helpful.

Suggested improvements
Offer a face to face consultation so the physio could physically assess me and so I could receive guidance and advice as to the right exercises and things to do to help what I have going on so I know I am not causing any further issues. To tell someone to just keep moving and get back to work & do what you can with rest periods isn't particularly helpful in getting someone back to good physical health.

The whole experience was extremely good from making the appointment with a very helpful receptionist to having my blood test with the nurse who was very welcoming and professional.

Suggested improvements
Nothing as I was extremely pleased with the whole experience.

Regardless of the time of day, phones go unanswered for long periods of time. Emails have not been answered. System online messages can leave long delays between messages being sent and answered. Appointments get moved between surgeries with the only contact to patients being a text message. These messages come with little to no notice. No current consistency to care.

Suggested improvements
Slimline the contact formats. System online, Doctor link, text messages, phone calls, emails. It is hard to know who to contact and how. Where an appointment will be. If it will actually take place. Answer the phones.

I waited 40 minutes for a GP to call me for a pre booked phone consultation. No one called so I contacted the surgery to be told the appointment time had been changed. No one from the surgery had thought to let me know. I wasted 40 minutes during work time, sat in my car waiting for a call that I wasn't going to receive. I was not able to take more time off that day for the later appointment. A disappointing, frustrating and poor service that day. I called in to Sutton Benger surgery and was told I had to book through doctor link. Why, when I was talking to the receptionist ?? Please return SB surgery to the wonderful, self managed surgery it once was.

Suggested improvements
let me know my appt time had been changed

Unable to get through on the phone to book a smear appointment, had to message and it took a long time for them to get back to me with the appointment. When I got there the car park was empty, the waiting room was empty and the receptionists were chatting. The service this surgery is offering at the moment is disgraceful!

Suggested improvements
answer the phone, treat your patients with the respect they deserve and start seeing them face to face
