After ringing for an appointment for an ill child who was covered in a rash and having spoken to an older female receptionist, I was told there were no appointments available for nearly 3 weeks. I then had a phone call from the doctor who advised that if the child did not improve overnight he should be brought to the surgery the next day. After arriving at the surgery I then met the abrupt receptionist who I had spoken to the night before. After being told to take a seat, this receptionist then shouted my business across the reception area in front of other patients. I was then told the doctor couldn't see my child and I would have to wait approx 45 mins until after the last appointment, but I couldn't wait in the surgery I would have to go away, her whole manner and approach needs to be addressed as she was very loud and rude. After waiting in my car in the surgery carpark for 1hr 30 mins, I returned to the surgery to see if the doctor was free. It was evident the receptionist hadn't even notified the doctor that we were waiting to be seen. Once this receptionist has completed her medical degree I will happily take medical advice from her, however, first she needs to go on a customer relation course and learn how to deal with people in an appropriate and sympathetic manner. A very rude lady who will do this surgery no favours at all in with her manner and approach.

Response from Beversbrook Medical Centre

Thank you for your feedback - I am very sad to hear about your experience as this is certainly not the level of patient care we strive to achieve here at Beversbrook. We run a nurse triage every morning and some afternoons so that we can deal with acute minor illness such as rashes etc on the day. I have asked for the matter to be investigated further so that we can use it for learning and development and would appreciate it if you could contact me at emmybutcher@nhs.net so that you can help us in our efforts. Once again thank you for your feedback and I look forward to hearing from you soon - Kindest regards - Emmy Butcher - Practice Manager and Business Partner.
