Following not having a response to my system online message to my gp ( he was on leave which I understand but there is no means for messages to be signposted on if this is the case) I contacted the surgery by phone. The receptionist was really helpful and understanding my circumstances she arranged for me to have a telephone consultation the following week with a physiotherapist. She said he would decide if a face to face appointment was needed. I found the phone consultation really in'-personal and felt like I was in a call with a call centre handler rather than a medical practitioner. I felt there was a lack of empathy for how difficult the last month has been for me and a lack of support and guidance around how I could become comfortably mobile again to get back to work after several weeks of being in so much pain and discomfort when moving around. I found it hard to understand how I was physically presented could accurately be assessed without a physical examination and how a true understanding of my pain levels could really be assessed by just a series of questions. I do not understand the purpose of system on line messaging service if GPs do not want this to be a means for patients to share medical concerns and information. I feel this is a good way to communicate in order to be able to give full information and then for a gp to decide action or consultation. Dr link does not enable a patient to give accurate full information and the information it can provides a patient with can be unhelpful. Regardless of personal views on holistic practises I feel it is unprofessional for a practitioner to say that they take another practitioners observations 'with a pinch of salt', as was the case when I shared my accupuncturists observations with the physio. Other than the physio going to be making arrangements for a receptionist to contact me with a date fot blood tests to rule out particular concerns to me I didn't find the phone consultation particularly helpful.

Suggested improvements
Offer a face to face consultation so the physio could physically assess me and so I could receive guidance and advice as to the right exercises and things to do to help what I have going on so I know I am not causing any further issues. To tell someone to just keep moving and get back to work & do what you can with rest periods isn't particularly helpful in getting someone back to good physical health.
