The appointment with the HCA nurse was excellent. The problem is the eternal wait on the phone at any time of day to speak to reception and get an appointment, often the wait is 30-40 minutes plus, with 10-15 people or more in the phone queue. This is appalling in this day and age with modern technology: even my utility companies are quicker. The wait frustrates everyone and deters people from getting the help they need / require. The surgery contributes to the problem by inviting / telling people to phone in to book appointment's, instead of offering an automated (or even partial automated) booking system (e.g. for minor checks like blood tests, etc), or just sending a fixed appointment and saying phone in if not convenient. Having said this, I do appreciate NHS work pressures (worked 30 yrs clinical in NHS myself), but your phone wait needs to improve and if my dentist can do it so can you.
