The Wilmslow Health centre website issues the following guidance ‘ General Practice is in crisis. Patient safety is at risk. Demand for GP appointments is outstripping supply. There are simply not enough GPs. Patients should be able to consult their GP when needed. GPs want to deliver this, but the system is in crisis.’ if you are in doubt when you arrive you will see a video in the reception area showing stressed doctors confirming the above and talking about their mental health having to see 40 patients a day. Patients are at risk. . If you have a serious and concerning set of symptoms and want to see your doctor the wait is three weeks. All very concerning .

  • Filling patients with fear and anxiety that they could be at risk ……im not sure that is the wisest course of action.

The receptionists are very helpful. I can usually get an appointment within a week (which is fine as not urgent). A telephone consultation is appropriate for a pain review. I know of several surgeries in the area that have unfriendly & difficult receptionists and poor booking systems which has never been the case at Wilmslow.

I couldn't ask for a more caring and helpful service. Dr Brennan, Dr Ahmed , Dr Ahmad and Dr Hitchen are wonderful ( I haven't had any interactions with the otherGPs)

  • Getting repeat prescription for items not always easy as some meds that I require arenot on the NHS app

Confirmation of appoint by email and texts are confusing

  • 1st email and 1st text clear that this was a telephone consultation. 2nd reminder from a different no. not the Health Centre's said ... 'Don't forget your appointment at 08:45 on Tuesday 17 of August at Wilmslow Health Centre. Please text back CANCEL if you cannot attend. If you wish to opt out of receiving text messages please reply STOP' It reads that the appointment is now face to face and not by telephone.

Had a health check today. It was quick, efficient with a warm and friendly approach. Explained what was going to happen and gave us opportunity to ask questions.

The Reception and Medical Staff are all great and I have absolutely no issues there, but since Covid-19 it has become extremely difficult to get an appointment and if you call you have to listen to a 3 1/2 minute message to find out what you are supposed to do before being sent to a website for triage. Everything used to be very simple and you could speak to a real person if you were unsure or book routine appointments via an app. This definitely adds to the general level of anxiety for people right now when it is made very difficult to seek help with something non Covid related. (And seemingly even more difficult if you do actually want help with something Covid related from what I can tell from the phone message and the website!) Everyone I speak to who also goes here is a combination of confused, annoyed, and anxious because of the current system. I know it's not been easy for the people who work here either but there must be a better way.

I received a text advising to attend the surgery at a particular time. When I arrived I was told it would actually be a telephone assessment. I waited for half an hour in the car but didn't receive a call. I eventually received a call 45 minutes later but I missed the call in the car on the way home. The message said I would receive a call in the afternoon but it wasn't received.
