I might be experiencing Long Covid symptoms, i.e., pain or tightness, heart palpitations. Paradoxically, the very disease which makes it difficult to get an appointment nowadays might still kill me in the end if it has damaged my heart. The heart can’t repair itself after a Covid attack like the lungs. All this would be hypochondria if it wasn’t for the pulse oximeter signalling something is seriously wrong with my heart. There’s a more professional device, a KardiaMobile, available for a hundred quid and used in conjunction with a smartphone which gives medical-grade single-lead ECG in just 30 seconds. The KardiaMobile can detect 6 of the most common arrhythmias, including AFib, Bradycardia, Tachycardia, PVCs, Sinus Rhythm with Wide QRS, and Sinus Rhythm with SVE.

Suggested improvements
  • I don’t think there is anything that could have been done better under the circumstances for a disease which we are still researching and vaccinating against. Medical personnel have also died from Covid. They are not like those horses in old Western movies which are magically left standing after the cowboys get shot. Horses die too. The appointment system is frustrating and convoluted but understandable because of the pandemic, albeit not helpful to me if it turns out I have a fatal heart condition paradoxically caused by Covid.

On the whole the doctors are really good and caring. The receptionists however need a lot of improvement. They are not very helpful, don’t listen to patients concerns and can be quite intrusive. They insist on knowing details of illness when they don’t need to know. They need to remember that they have no medical knowledge and cannot decide what is an urgent problem. It is almost impossible to get an appointment with my named doctor and as someone with a chronic condition it’s very disconcerting to have to explain myself each time to someone else. I am overall happy with the service as the doctors do try their best at a very busy surgery

This is my parents surgery. Both parents are now very elderly and infirm. The doctors have always shown interest and concern for my parents health and have been proactive in treatment plans. The doctors are in regular contact by telephone to see how Mum and Dad are and regularly pay visits to check on their health. I’ve not had any problems getting same day home visits when ever they are needed. Some of the receptionist are a little brusque and could soften their tone a little. Having said that it is a large and busy surgery and must be quite stressful at times dealing with patients and their bossy daughters like myself.

Great clinical care and all the GPs I've seen have been helpful and friendly but hard to get through on the phone and not easy to get an appoitment; however if you are willing to turn up and queue you will always be seen on that day
