Review

This year I've had great experience at the Crown Street surgery: appointments have been quick to make (via filling in the "Health review" section on the website), and GPs have been helpful and efficient. Thank you!

This morning on the 26th March 2026 I had a blood test performed by a Nurse named Cheryl I am a very fearful of needles so was very anxious and nervous of the procedure occurring Cheryl carefully explained what she was going to do and was very gentle and reassured me as I was very fearful As she held the syringe my nerves were heightened but she in a calm tone told me not to worry as I looked away I then asked when was she going to inject and take the blood samples and too my shock and surprise she said said she had ALREADY taken the sample ! I was shocked at how painless the whole thing was ! She held my hand and softly said it was done and not to worry BLESS Cheryl !!!!!!!!!!

I am Assoc.Prof.Ergenekon Mustafa AVCI. I've been registered at Crown Street GP for about two years now and I regularly go to the GP despite my health issues. All the doctors are very helpful, and I get positive results every time I request a consultation. I sometimes visit the nurses as well, and they are very professional and helpful. All the staff at the reception and in the office always respond professionally and quickly to my questions and requests. First of all, I would like to thank the GP management and all the staff for their professionalism. Yesterday, January 12, 2026, we visited Dr. Helena Blakeway due to my brother's health condition. He was genuinely very kind and helpful, providing all the necessary explanations. He was very professional. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude once again to all the staff at Crown Street Surgery.

  • I think you're successful in everything.I also wrote that you were successful on the GP patient survey form that the NHS sent me last week.

The appointment was by telephone forst then i needed to be in for examination the doctor was very thorough and explained everything . I was satisfied with the decision and plan of management.

Suggested improvements
  • I wish it will be made easier access for e consult and / or telephone appointment to book for weak and frail people with chronic illness.

Very negative and indifferent attitude by one receptionist

Suggested improvements
  • If you could do an audit of the receptionists, because something is not right in their approach. It’s not all of them

I have received nothing but excellent service from receptions staff, AnnMarie the Manager as well as Doctors at Crown Street Surgery, Nick Sylvan. Professional service with warmth, approachability whilst setting the right tone from word go.

Suggested improvements
  • The communal/open areas, waiting area etc could do with a lick of paint. The whole waiting area could do with some comfort as it appears rather stark and cold, lacking any warmth….this is a complete contrast to the service that one receives, which is EXCELLENT.

Male receptionist was very understanding and discreet. I am not a patient of this surgery but should I ever move to its catchment area, would not hesitate to join the practice. First Impressions Count and these were Excellent.

Everything seems okay: reception-team rude. Of the three times having been in; the first time the reception staff were rude and did not care to help my personal needs. First gave the wrong forms, second did not want to take in the forms because they were on lunch despite still working at the desk with no one to cover her for lunch [seems the others were late] - when someone did come, they did not acknowledge the queue until someone approached them as if the people in the line were there for a bit of a laugh. Third time, most pressing: an elderly gentleman in front of us who did not speak very good English was being shouted at and accused of giving misleading information when it looked like the poor gentleman was just trying to check in on his wife. 830am, 11-03-2024. Receptionist's tone was disrespectful and the accusations were unnecessary nor helpful to the confused-looking elderly gentleman. More training recommended.

Suggested improvements
  • More communication or interpersonal skills vetting / training should be offered to the front line of the surgery. From other reviews, it seems quality of care from reception-staff have been on decline at this surgery.
