I am not even sure where to start 3 months ago i tried to register Somehow the first attempt didnt work Then the application did go through and i was told i am not registered until i did a health check. However they didnt have any appointments available.. I explained that i need medication and would get extremly unwell if i didnt have them - the reception then had told me to shush and that i talk too much... After weeks (at this point without medication btw. ) i was booked for a healthcheck. Upon arrival i find out it never had been booked. I then registered elsewhere and still have physical issues due to being off medication for almost a month Suddenly i start receiving letters from the cedar practice. About booking a smear test... 4 letters in total. Also received ceveral texts. Then they started calling me DAILY(i picked up each time abd told them i dont wish to book) When i received the calls i explained i am not registered and also would have booked a smear if i wanted to...and i do not wish to. The receptionist then criticised my german accent and called me aggressive. Apparently german accents are aggressive and a german is supposed to have the same accent as any other more soft spoken nationality. I told her my calls are automatically recorded on my phone. Suddenly she started apologising and said she did a mistake (what a toddler mentality) I asked for a call from the manager. the day after the practice manager called me. I started explaining..manager cut me short and told me im rude for not wishing to book a smear...(?) And also disregarded the whole racist comments about my accent. I told her also that my phone records all calls and that it will be taken further. I ended the call..and she called again! Wanting to argue. The staff and even manager have totally lost the plot. Ive never experienced such low class behaviour in a medical set. A kindergarden is more civilised than this place.

Particularly, I have been neglecting by this doctor for the second time. She has never listens to me or gives me chances to talk. She keeps repeatedly saying that ‘it’s very confusing to understand you’ which I have asked her is there any problem with my English but she said that ‘ there is no problem with your English.’ She makes me feel melancholy and disappointed the way she treats me.

Suggested improvements
  • Doctor should have treated everyone equally not neglecting some of the patients because their circumstances.

The practice is generally very good and they have worked hard to keep access open during the pandemic for which I am very grateful. Most staff are very kind and helpful. However, there is one receptionist who is always immediately rude and antagonistic. I always actually feel quite upset after my interactions with her. I appreciate that the receptionists are under a lot of pressure and that some patients can be difficult, but I am never rude to her and would appreciate the same in return. Other members of the reception team have gone out of their way to be really kind and helpful which I very much appreciate, especially under the circumstances.

Suggested improvements
  • It gets a bit confusing remembering when you are supposed to call about what.

Friendly, welcoming staff, caring and kind doctors.

Suggested improvements
  • Maybe made online access more available during pandemic? But appreciate a lot going on!

This is more of a complaint than feedback. Recently I needed a repeat prescription of my regular medication : prednisolone. When I went to my local chemist, I discovered yet again that it was for 1mg, though I have been on 10mgs for months, following my consultant’s advice. This is not the first it happens, probably the 3rd or 4th. I called the practice to request a change explaining that I had completely run out of the medication. The lady said it was late in the day for the doctor to do it, ( past 1300), that I would need to wait for 48 hours and in any case it would be the same dose (1mgs) as that’s what was on my record as a repeat. I explained that I didn’t have any left and cannot be without medication. She just kept repeating the same information, no understanding or offer to try at least! I went back to my chemist and got the 1mgs as a temporary solution, showed her a letter from the consultant to myself and my GP dated back in August that I was on 10 msg, requested that she took a photo of it and email it to the practice, which she kindly did. I went again the following day and requested the 10mgs (2 fives) because the 1 msg was going to run out in a few days. She gave it to me as ‘patient’s request’, but I had to pay twice for the same medication! Is that fair? I’m paying twice for miscommunication between the doctor and the staff because the letter from the hospital is there. I’m also paying twice because someone is either too rigid or doesn’t want to do her job properly. I’m paying twice in this current climate where work is really scarce. I and my family have been with the Cedar practice for over twenty years and do not wish to change, so I really hope that something will be done soon to address this. Thank you Ms M. Chaieb

  • When I went for my flu jab last week, I tried to book an appointment with my GP to try and resolve this. I was told that I should call back the following morning to book one for the following week: more rigidity!

Impossible to get in touch by phone early morning - they always claim to be busy but I have seen receptionists chatting with each other and ignoring ringing phones. Doctors OK but receptionists are very unsympathetic and think the service is run for their convenience.

The doctors are very good, Dr Shier in particular is a knowledgeable, caring GP. However the reception staff are shockingly rude and unhelpful. It is ridiculously hard to get an appointment, the process seems to change weekly and anyone with a job has no chance of getting a time that is convenient.

Very positive experience. Easy to use the online system to get a routine appointment - and then a decent waiting environment followed by an efficient and friendly consultation. Given the pressure the NHS and each surgery is under I felt well cared for and never rushed. Was given time to undertstand the issues surrounding my problem and referred for follow up. Also good that other services such as Physio etc are available in the same Health Centre. Feel very lucky to have the Cedar practice and JSHC on our doorsteps.
