Balham Park Surgery

This is a surgery with extremely low ability for the patient to see a doctor and get care. Even if you have private insurance and are very ill, you run into the Chinese wall of the receptionists and the available appointments in 3 to 4 weeks. It’s ridiculous. If you get to see a doctor, you are ok (unless you run into one of the junior doctors who speak at you and don’t even listen). We are not talking about access to good or bad care; we are talking about no access to any care more often than not. I am moving myself out of here although elsewhere may be similar.

My doctor Swanne is extremely caring. I feel confident in her diagnosis. She she thoroughly researches what she prescribes. If she finds it conflicts with what I’m taking, she finds a good alternative. Other doctors in the surgery, have also been very good. It’s always been a wonderful practice. I would recommend it to anyone.

Very unhelpful and discourteous person on the phone called Richard. Refused to listen to the urgency of the problem, kept insisting and interrupting and sent a text to book a telephone appointment at 11 pm (at night) 3 weeks from day of call, refused to give a more considered time slot. When I asked him for his full name to register a complaint he refused. Horrendous deterioration in level of service at reception at this surgery over the past few years
