Unfortunately it reacted with other meds I was on and so it wasn't as effective as it should have been.

On 01.06.2011 my G.P. advised taking Omeprazole 20mg gastro-resistant capsules (one once daily) following a colonoscopy & upper G.I. endoscopy and diagnosis of a Hiatus Hernia. I have continued taking this medication on a repeat prescription to the present date. . . . . . I have had no problem with the Hiatus Hernia so Omeprazole must be beneficial to me.

It is difficult to assess whether any side effects are the result of this medication as I am on several others which have similar effects.

I would advice the patient to go to the doctor as soon possible, when I went the doctor gave me some good advice so taking the tables helps a lot.

Profile

Omeprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Omeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
