I have had no side effects but this has certainly helped control severe acid reflux.

I've been taking this medicine for about 11yrs now, but I've read a lot about it and it doesn't make for good reading !!...i only take it because its prescribed by my GP, otherwise i wouldn't !!!.... I take quite a lot of medicines every day which I've had on prescription for a very long time, some of which i shouldn't be taking long term !!!. (Very worrying )!!!. Getting back to the Omeprazole, yes i do know why i have to take it, apparently it should stop my stomach from getting ulcers, and stop tummy troubles, because of the kind of medication i take. I must admit that i wasn't really sure how to answer some of the questions above, as I've been on these for a very long time, and can't remember if i got any side effects from them, but at the same time i really don't like being on them, to tell the truth i wish i could stop all of these chemicals going into my system every day !!!...

Brilliant for heartburn etc, only problem is it wears out quickly if you miss a dose. I take 2 x 20mg daily, and if I miss a day, I get terrible heart burn by the evening, and takes 2 - 3 days to build up again.

Really good for gastritis. I took it for about a year and I am fine now. No pain and no midnight waking because of pain and burning. I'd heard that it causes hairloss but my GP reassured me that it's not scientifically proved. I did not have any side effects off Omeprazole.

Profile

Omeprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Omeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
