I found the use of "we" patronising! Instead of saying Mrs James, the staff said we are thinking of getting some readers, and fine varifocaks. What?!!! Also, the guy helping me select & measure my glasses didn't listen to me & over-rode what I said. I told him I didn't like Transition lenses, as when I went into a supermarket, I couldn't see anything as the lenses were dark for too long. He said that my eyes would be better protected if I had the transitional lenses. I told him I didn't need extra-thin lenses as I didn't think my prescription was so bad that I needed them. He said, that is what you had last time. "Last time", I was working full-time & I could afford to be extravagant. This time, I am living on a small private pension, and I am not working - I ended up ordering something I didn't want, or ask fir & now have to phone up to cancel the order. I feel embarrassed by being over-ridden by a young man, but he should be embarrassed for being over-powering.
