20th March 2017

Yesteday I had 3 back-to-back appointments for my young children aged between 7 and 9. The first appointment was due to start at 2.10pm. Despite my several enquiries as to how much longer we were going to be kept waiting, my first child did not get to see the optician until 3.20pm. Despite my complaint the staff feebly apologised and explained that the previous appointment had significantly overrun. Staff also failed to point out that there were a selection of children's books available in the shop area which would have helped occupy my children during the hour+ wait in the waiting area. We only spotted these on emitting the shop. Due to waiting for over an hour, and my other commitments, we were only able to complete 2 out of the 3 appointments. We now have to go back which is difficult as I work full time. I appreciate that appointments overrun, but it is not acceptable to keep a family with young children waiting this long. If I had not complained, no-one would have apologised. The optician should have made a follow appointment for the customer who needed extra time and not have kept us waiting for that amount of time at our expense. It is also worth noting that the allocated time slots are insufficient. We have been customers of this store for many years and I left yesterday feeling angry and very disappointed. Sarah Statham
