This was the worst Optician experience that I have ever had. First I tried to cancel the appointments (one for contact test and one normal eyesight test) as I had a bloodshot eye. They cancelled the contacts appointment but told me to still come in to see the Optometrist. The assistants gave me the normal Field tests etc and then I saw the Optometrist who, after a cursory look and a few quick tests told me I had to go to the local Walk-in Centre or to A&E. I was stunned and asked why but he just kept insisting with no real explanation and said he would write a letter for me to take. This seemed to take him about half an hour and by this time I was shaking wondering what an earth he was thinking, He was totally insensitive about the fact that he was causing me great concern (I should mention that I have a heart condition which can be brought on by worry and anxiety). I didn't go to the Walk-in Centre and was so upset and worried that I went to my son's house rather than go home. After a worrying night I did manage to get an appointment with my own Doctor the very next morning and she was quite amazed and couldn't believe that the Optometrist had even suggested I should go to the Walk-in Centre or A&E. She said (as I did) a bloodshot eye was completely normal in anyone and, in my case, could well have been due to clumsy fitting or removing of my contact lenses the previous day. In short I was caused considerable and completely unnecessary worry by this Optometrist and will most definitely not be using him again and it will make me think twice about using Boots Opticians in general.
