I explained that, during the test, I could see double vision when I viewed the chart with both eyes. The optometrist was not concerned and said it would 'settle down' without investigating it further. He also talked in professional jargon that I could not understand at all. I tried to seek clarification, but did not get anywhere. I did not feel it was someone that I wanted to discuss my ongoing problems with my sight with. He also made me feel very uncomfortable about being a user of gas permeable contact lenses instead of soft lenses, even though I explained that I had tried soft lenses in the past but preferred the hard lenses. He kept asking me 'But when was the last time you tried soft lenses?' Eventually I was forced to say to stop this persistent line 'I am VERY happy with my gas-permeable lenses'. I had even raised any issue with my contact lenses.
