I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at Boots the Opticians in Princes Street, but especially optometrists Jane Anderson and Clair Speed. I came to the department suffering blurred vision in one eye and was provided with immediate, comprehensive and courteous attention. After a wide-ranging series of tests, it was discovered I was suffering from a retinal tear and vitreous haemorrhaging. Ms Anderson explained the problem clearly, concisely and, just as importantly, sensitively then immediately organised an appointment at the Edinburgh Eye Pavilion for that same day. When complications arose the following morning, Ms Speed proved equally helpful and diligent. I hate to imagine what might have occurred without their timely assistance. I think Boots are extremely lucky to have such dedicated ophthalmic staff working for them just as we, the public, are fortunate in having access to their knowledge and skill. It is well to remember that local opticians are not only there for routine eye-checks but also perform a vital role in the detection of potentially more serious eye conditions. Once again, thank you.
