The optemitrists that I saw were absolutely brilliant BUT the administration of staff (whom I assume was a manager) was rude and obnoxious. I am female named "Charlie". Instead of checking my file he just assumed I was male. The younger lad checked the file and correctly identified me as female whereas the manager then corrected him incorrectly! I found the way he handled the situation absolutely awful.

Very pleasant and attentive staff and an extremely thorough optometrist. The whole experience leaves you feeling confident that your eye health is in excellent hands.

When I arrived for my appointment I was wearing my contact lenses as I was having my contact lenses check before my eye test. I wanted to try some new glasses on so I spoke to the gentlemen at the desk and asked him to open up some of the glasses as they are locked and therefore you need them to be unlocked to try them on. I asked for a few different sections to be opened because I wanted to try a few different glasses on, however I was told that only one section can be opened at a time and that he had to wait with me whilst I tried the glass on. I felt quite under pressure and restricted whilst trying on the glasses because you don't have the freedom to choose different pairs on. After I had had my eye test I spoke to the optometrist as I mentioned I wanted to purchase new glasses but that they were locked and that I could only have one opened at a time. He spoke to someone when we came out of the room and asked them to open a few different locked sections so that I could try them on at my own pleasure. This was done and I chose some glasses. I just feel that only opening one area at a time is very restrictive and a pressurised way for customers to try different glasses on. Other than that my experience was very good.

I was surprised that there was not a toilet to use. The appointment lasted an hour but I was not able to select any new glasses following the appointment because I had to find a public toilet so had to make an appointment for another day. The Optometrist was a locum and he was very thorough and pleasant company.

I found the majority of staff were unhelpful, never smiled and forgetting to update the computer that I had turned up for the appointment, meaning I waited 45 minutes, missed my slot with the optician I was scheduled to see, and had to be slotted in to see whoever was available. On previous visits this had also happened with only a 'sorry about that' as an apology. However, I would state that all of the opticians themselves were exceptionally good and thorough and I cannot fault them. Personally I feel it is the staff on the check in desk who let Boots down and should be taught, that a smile costs nothing.
