Aileen was a wonderfully calm and reassuring nurse who listened and answered questions asked of her, always replying in language one could understand. She never rushed me and gave me the confidence to face the needed surgery. When in hospital for said surgery Aileen took any opportunity to visit one on the ward and again created the time to talk and reassure one about how well the operation had gone. before admission and after discharge she took the time to phone me to see how things were going, again calmly answering and questions and offering reassurance when needed. Post op in a review meeting she explained in a no nonsense truthful manner what the surgery had found, what the outcome was and the future treatment. It was pleasant to find a Health Professional who showed such compassion and understanding as well as a human side and sense of humour.
