I first met Gill nearly ten years ago after I came out of hospital with an ileostomy following an operation for bowel cancer. Her calm, professional and compassionate care during that difficult time meant I became more confident in the management of my stoma. This was a major contribution to improving my quality of life and that of my husband as a result of Gill's emotional as well as well as medical care. She discussed all aspects of my care with both of us clearly and effectively. If improvement were possible it would be, in my opinion, the opportunity to allow such valuable support as much time as necessary to achieve a good level of patient confidence to live their life to the full even after major surgery. Sadly I appreciate budgets and staffing levels are often in short supply but the care I received from Gill was exemplary.
